The Imposter Syndrome is alive and well. Our fast paced environments and constant change, create fertile ground for imposter thoughts to fester.
The more I do the Imposter Syndrome presentation, the more I see audiences identifying with having imposter thoughts. They are relieved to know that they are not alone. 70-80% of us will experience imposter syndrome at some time in our career.
This presentation is engaging and interactive. I usually ask for a panel of men and women from the organization to share their imposter experiences during the presentation. Their stories are amazing. Audiences realize that it doesn’t matter if you are the CEO or an individual contributor, we are all fair game for imposter thoughts to take hold.
I share a variety of tools that participants can take away and use right away. If time permits, we often break into small groups so participants can discuss their experiences and how they will apply their learning.
This presentation also makes a nice compliment to DEI initiatives because Imposter Syndrome is all about feeling like “I don’t belong.” I offer tips and tools for what leaders can do to create environments of belonging and support which help decrease the chances of imposter thoughts being triggered.
