Tips For Prioritizing

Whoops! I'm sorry this is a day late, but I'm excited to dive into week 7 of our Monday Moments. 

I’m so very curious about how your week went when you focused on only saying YES to those things you really wanted to do. 
Take a moment to reflect, I hope you ...
  • Realized you connected more to your energy of being when you got to do more of the things you really wanted to. 
  • Noticed that there are more of those discretionary things that you could say ‘no’ to than you realized before doing last week’s Monday Moment.
This week we are talking about priorities.
If you are not clear on YOUR priorities, you end up being spun around and reacting to everyone else’s priorities. Then before you know it, your frustration level goes up, your sense of control vanishes, and your feeling of well-being gets harder to access. That ‘too much to do’ feeling sets in and your ability to work from a calm place goes out the window.
​Week 7 - Monday Moment Habit Creator
How to determine your priorities?
  • Take at least one hour a week, and use it to reflect and plan. No answering emails during that hour. No texting. Just thinking and planning!
  • You need time to think big picture. To discern what’s truly important and what’s grabbing your attention by being urgent.

With clear priorities, you’ll feel much more in charge of your days and weeks. And that will help fuel your feeling of calm and your underlying state of well-being.
  1. Breathe - Take a moment right now to do your 90 seconds of deep breathing.
  2. Plan - Then take out your calendar (Yes right now) and schedule at least an hour during your workweek for big picture thinking time to decide on your true priorities.
  3. Strategize - Now guard that time with everything you’ve got. Remember, all will be well for an hour while you step away and think.

My hope is that you notice a significant positive difference in how you feel as well as increased confidence you are focusing on the things that have the biggest impact on both your own success and the success of your organization.

I will tell you that my clients who are diligent about taking an hour or more every week to think big picture are some of the calmest and most productive leaders I know.
