I've been dawdling. One of the definitions for dawdling is "to be slow." I've had ideas for the newsletter in August but just never got them out of my head and on paper. Something inside me -- which I call my intuitive wisdom -- insisted on being slow. Slow can be a good thing, but it gets a bad rap. Throughout the month of non-writing, those negative voices in my head would hound me. When hounding didn't work, they started to make up stories of gloom, doom and disaster. Really, how much disaster can not writing a newsletter for a month create? There was a time in my life when those voices had a lot more power than they do today. As you can see by the fact there are no blog posts in August, those negative voices didn't get me to write any sooner. Are you being pestered? Which brings me to the topic of today's musings. Positivity. Many of us are pestered by negative thoughts. For me, they seem to appear when a deadline looms, a new endeavor is being born or stress has crept in. Negativity seems to lie in wait so it can latch onto the fear that is in our lives. Have you noticed how much fear is in the headlines these days? Ugh! What's a leader to do? We must be conscious and deliberate about putting plenty of positivity into our daily lives to counter the negativity that surrounds us. Negativity can be loud. It can be insidious. It can be sneaky. One of the ways I like to pump up my positivity is attending the Good Leadership Breakfast series. There's one coming up this Friday morning, September 18. Every time I go, I meet interesting people who are doing interesting things. If you want to experience a good dose of positivity, the Good Leadership Breakfast is the place to be.
Come to Breakfast!
Have a great week!
